The Head of State Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé received on July 12, 2022, in Pya in the Kara Region, the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embalo, on a working visit to Togo. The two leaders had a face-to-face meeting, during which they discussed the diplomatic and cooperation relations between the two countries.
The situation in the West African region and issues related to strengthening integration in the within the community space were also on the agenda for discussion.

8- The two Heads of State expressed their deep concern at the resurgence of terrorism and invited, to this end, the international community to further support the efforts of the affected countries in the face of this scourge which continues to gain ground. .
9- President Embalo presented his condolences to President Gnassingbé, to the Togolese people as well as to the families of the victims of the recent terrorist attacks perpetrated in the North of Togo.
10- On international issues, Presidents Gnassingbé and Embalo reaffirmed the urgency of a de-escalation in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the repercussions of which are heavily felt on the African continent.
11- At the end of his friendly and working visit, His Excellency Mr. Úmaro Sissoco Embalo expressed to his brother and friend, His Excellency Mr. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, to the Government and to the Togolese people, his sincere thanks and his deep gratitude for the particularly warm welcome and the marks of attention which he and his delegation received.
12- President Embalo invited his Togolese counterpart to visit Guinea-Bissau.
13- President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé accepted this invitation with good grace. The date of this visit will be set later through diplomatic channels.
