CINCINNATI (AP) — TJ Friedl hit a three-run homer and an RBI triple as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3 on Saturday.
Friedl’s third home run of the season — to right-center field off Mike Clevinger in the fifth inning — gave Cincinnati a 4-3 lead. His triple with two outs in the seventh drove in Jonathan India.
India went 3-for-3 and scored three times. Derek Law (2-4) pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief of Nick Lodolo, and Alexis Diaz got three outs for six saves.
Hanser Alberto and Seby Zavala homered for Chicago. Clevinger (2-3) allowed four runs and six hits in six innings.
The White Sox, who entered the game hitting .180 with runners in scoring position over the past 13 games, went 1 for 8 in those situations on Saturday.
