Fribourg-Gottéron’s Struggles in Zug: A Recap of the Latest Defeat and Challenges of Playing in Central Switzerland

2023-11-15 21:05:17

Fribourg-Gottéron completely missed its return following the international break. Christian Dubé’s team was indeed soundly beaten 5-1 in Zug, where it had little say in the matter.

Traveling to central Switzerland is often complicated for Fribourgers. Their last success there dates back to November 1, 2019. And the illusions of the Dragons did not last long on Wednesday: they found themselves trailing 3-0 following the initial third and successes from Senteler (7th), Simion (11th ) and Wingerli (18th).

The Friborg reaction in the middle third did not materialize in the score. Worse, Zug added the 4-0 by Herzog 35 seconds before the break. Marchon saved the honor (41st) in vain before Robin scored his first goal in the National League to seal the final score (53rd).

Thanks to this clear success, Zug takes the lead ahead of its evening opponent. The two clubs have 44 points, but the Zougois have played one game less.
