At the beginning of February, an anesthetist from the Friborg Cantonal Hospital (HFR) was caught in the act in the intensive care toilets; he was taking Propofol, a powerful sedative. One of his laboring patients waited in vain for the epidural. According to a caregiver in the service, if the doctor had undertaken the technique in this state, the woman would have risked paraplegia.

According to his colleagues, the doctor has a history, but he escapes for the moment from any sanction, reports “Le Matin Dimanche”. He would have arrived at the hospital several times in the summer drunk, unable to perform his duties, such as managing a life-threatening emergency. The HFR, which says it is aware that “the state of health of anesthesia requires professional supervision”, guarantees that “patient safety has always been ensured”. He was on sick leave for a month.
