Fresenius is reorganizing the board of the Austrian subsidiary Vamed

The German hospital and medical group Fresenius continues to clean up and restructure the board. At the same time, the group is planning far-reaching personnel changes at its Austrian service company Vamed. The previous Vamed boss Ernst Wastler is leaving the company on July 18 when he has reached retirement age and is also leaving the Fresenius Management Board, as the group announced in Bad Homburg.

Gottfried Koos’s position on the Vamed board of directors also ends on June 30, 2023. As a successor plan, Klaus Schuster and Frank-Michael Frede are moving to the board of directors at Vamed. The previous board members Andrea Raffaseder and Andreas Wortmann continue to be part of the four-person board. Schuster will be the new CEO at Vamed and will no longer be a member of the Fresenius Management Board. Instead, Michael Moser, who Fresenius has already hired as a new member of the board, will be responsible for Vamed in the future. Moser is also to move to the Vamed supervisory board, which will be reduced to six members.

In May, Fresenius boss Michael Sen reported serious structural problems at Vamed and announced a review. With the current personnel decisions, Fresenius is also driving the separation of its Management Board from Vamed. The DAX group only wants to treat the clinic service provider as an investment in the future, despite a majority stake. This also applies to the dialysis subsidiary FMC, which is to be removed from the Fresenius balance sheet by the end of the year. After the deconsolidation, FMC and its boss Helen Giza will no longer be represented on the Fresenius board, the DAX group announced.
