Frequent urination in the winter does not only indicate a person’s illness from an organic standpoint, but in some cases it also indicates a bad mood, according to Dr. Sherif Hatta, a public health and preventive medicine consultant.

Hattah pointed out that winter negatively affects mental health, as it leads to feelings of stress and anxiety, adding that frequent urination is a physical symptom of seasonal depression.
The public health consultant added that stress and anxiety stimulate the brain to produce more hormones, which cause increased bladder activity, such as cortisol and adrenaline, which causes frequent urination.

He explained that anxiety and stress are easy to overcome by following some guidelines:

2- Regular exercise, such as not exercising before bed.
3- Drink warm herbal drinks, such as chamomile tea, to feel relaxed.
4- Practice meditation and relaxation exercises, such as yoga and deep breathing, to calm the nerves.
5- Shower with warm water.
6- Get enough sleep.
7- Seek help from a mental health specialist, if anxiety is chronic, to determine the appropriate way to get rid of it, whether through medication, behavioral psychotherapy, or both.

Hetta concluded his speech by pointing out the necessity of stopping drinking beverages, including water, before bed, and reducing caffeine, while paying attention to practicing Kegel exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.
