French Team Faces Tough Loss in Last Preparation Match for World Cup: Analysis & Expectations

2023-08-20 06:16:00

For its last preparation match for the World Cup which will start on Friday (the Blues will play Canada at 3:30 p.m.), the French team stumbled once morest solid and rough Australians. Not a disaster but an invincibility in the dumpster, too bad.

We don’t want to go ahead, but wouldn’t the last defeat of the Blues go back to… the final of Euro 2022? Quite possible, sorry but we didn’t put our sleuths on the spot because on Sundays it pays double. Whatever happens it is therefore a defeat, the first of the preparation following six successes in as many games, and the face of the match leaves some regrets.

A huge first quarter in intensity, it grabs balls tired in defense and Evan Fournier in particular makes the difference in attack. There is no game, France plays too well, Patty Mills is well held and the Blues unfold. In the second quarter the first rotations put the Boomers back in the game a bit, and if Dante Exum seems to have a contract on his head because of his liabilities with Guerschon Yabusele, Joe Ingles regulates his team and Australia therefore remains in the game before half-time. French side? Rudy Gobert and Guerschon Yabusele dominate overall below, Elie Okobo brought a little pep from the bench and Evan Fournier clearly took the lead and will end the game not far from 30 pawns.

Second half-time ? Not the same game anymore. Isaïa Cordinier deserves some praise for his good work but for the rest everything is hard. Nick Kay and two three other guys with good Australian features put their heads where you wouldn’t put their feet, tempers get heated from time to time and at this little game the badass from Oceania are the most strong, so much so that they nibbling the gap little by little to get back into the match and even pass in front for the first time in the match a hundred seconds from the end of the match. Nico Batum has been on the bench for a while, Sylvain Francisco has not had the expected offensive contribution, and like bandits the Aussies will therefore finally leave with the win.

???? The statistics of the meeting:

Evan Fournier 29 PTS, 3 REB
Isaïa Cordinier 12 PTS
Guerschon Yabusele 10 PTS, 7 REB, 4 PD, 2 INT, 2 CT
Rudy Gobert 9 PTS, 8 REB, 2 CT
Nando De Colo 6 PTS, 4 PD
Elie Okobo 6 PTS#TeamFranceBasket | #PassionatelyBlue | #FIBAWC | #FRAAUS

Small blow in the bone five days before the start of the World Cup, but a defeat can also have the effect of shaking the coconut tree a little for those who need it most. The following ? It will be much more serious but rest assured, France, too, will be more serious. Happy Sunday, with or without Michel Drucker.
