Paris: French league club Toulouse F.C. kicked out players who refused to participate in the LGBT campaign. Moroccan forward Zakaria Aboukhlal has been ruled out by the club from yesterday’s match once morest Nonre. Nonte has never played a player who disagreed.
Yesterday’s Toulouse-None match was part of Wednesday’s International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, where players were asked to take part in an LGBT awareness campaign. The instruction was to pose for a photograph from behind a rainbow badged Jerseyanian and an LGBT awareness banner. However, the Muslim players in Toulouse expressed their personal discomfort with this.
Apart from Moroccan player Abukhlal, Bosnian player Said Hamulic, Algerian player Fares Sheibi and Malian player Moussa Diarra approached the management with disagreement. Along with this, Nonte’s Egyptian striker Mustafa Mohammed also made it clear that he cannot be a part of the campaign. After that, Toulouse went into the match yesterday following removing the players. Mustafa has not played for Nonte either.
Toulouse has also issued an official press release on the matter. A news release revealed that some stars disagreed with collaborating with the rainbow color, which represents the LGBT movement. The club also said that it has been decided to exclude the players from Sunday’s match following constant discussions while respecting the personal choice of the players.
The Toulouse-Non match was yesterday at 3pm local time. The match at the Toulouse Stadium ended in a goalless draw.
