French Rapper Naps Charged with Multiple Sexual Assaults Amid Ongoing Legal Troubles

The Marseille rapper Naps, already suspected in a rape case in 2021, was indicted on Sunday for “rapes and sexual assaults” following complaints from three young adult women in Var, announced the Toulon prosecutor’s office.

Arrested on Friday in a hotel in the seaside resort of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, the author of the hit “La kiffance” has been placed under judicial control and denies the accusations against him, specified Laurent Robert, the deputy prosecutor. The investigation has been entrusted to the research brigade of La Valette-du-Var and will continue under the commission rogatoire of the investigating judge.

Naps “completely contests”

Nabil Boukhobza, his real name, is already suspected of having raped a young woman while she was asleep in the fall of 2021. In this case, the investigating judge ordered, in a decision made in mid-May and of which AFP learned at the end of July, that the rapper be tried before the departmental criminal court of Paris.

The 32-year-old rapper, who has a large following on social media with one million followers on his Instagram account, “completely contests” and “with the greatest firmness” the accusations against him in this first case, his lawyer Nabil Boudi assured AFP at that time. He has appealed the order from the investigating magistrate calling for a trial.
