Emmanuel Macron called on Sunday, at the end of the first round of the presidential election, to found beyond “differences” “a great political movement of unity and action” and said he wanted to “reach out to all those who want to work for France.

“I call on all those who for six years and until this evening have committed themselves to working alongside me to transcend their differences to come together in a great political movement of unity and action for our country”, a- he declared from his electoral HQ, in the presence of several figures of the macronie, including Prime Minister Jean Castex. “In this decisive moment for the future of the nation, nothing should be as before. This is why I wish to reach out to all those who want to work for France”, he continued, under the cries of “Macron president!”

“I am ready to invent something new to bring together the various convictions and sensibilities in order to build with them a common action in the service of our nation for the years to come. It is our duty,” he added. He also thanked his opponents who “gave him their support”, citing Anne Hidalgo, Yannick Jadot, Valérie Pécresse and Fabien Roussel. He noted that some are positioning themselves “to block the far right” and said he was “fully aware that this will not be worth supporting the project” he is carrying, quoting the Insoumis leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

The candidate should make his first trip between two rounds in Hauts-de-France on Monday, in the East on Tuesday and hold a meeting in Marseille on Saturday, except for changes, according to those around him. According to the same source, the objective is to “aim for the widest possible gap” with Marine Le Pen on April 24, the wish being to reach “60-40”. “We are confident in view of the calls to vote Emmanuel Macron this evening, in particular Jean-Luc Mélenchon, 1000 times clearer than in 2017”.
