French President Macron Signs 10 Billion Euro Investment Agreement with Qatar: Impact on French Economy and International Relations

President Emmanuel Macron announced that he had signed, on Tuesday February 27, 2024, with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, an agreement relating to Qatari investment commitments worth 10 billion euros in the French economy. by 2030, local media reported.

“We have signed an ambitious investment plan of 10 billion euros,” he declared during the exchange of toasts at the opening of the dinner given in honor of the Emir of Qatar, visiting State in France, specifies Ouest-France on its site.

These investments will take place in sectors such as energy transition, semiconductors, aerospace, artificial intelligence, digital, health and cultural industries, according to the same source.

The meeting also focused on “the evolution of the situation on the regional and international scene, in particular the war in the Gaza Strip and in the occupied Palestinian territories”, according to the same source.

The French president hoped that “the visit of the Emir of Qatar will contribute to strengthening cooperative relations and broadening its horizons in various fields.”

For his part, the Emir of Qatar highlighted “the development observed in strategic relations between the two countries”.

He expressed his hope to continue partnership and cooperation in various fields to realize the common interests of the two friendly countries.

The Emir of Qatar arrived in Paris late Tuesday followingnoon for a two-day visit, according to the official Qatari press agency.

This visit coincided with the announcement by the Egyptian army, Tuesday in a press release, of the participation of Qatar and France in a humanitarian aid drop operation in which Egypt, Jordan and the Arab Emirates, in the Gaza Strip.
