French Open: Medvedev out, Coco in semis

American youngster Coco Gauff advanced to the semifinals of the French Open tennis women’s singles. She defeated Sloane Stephens 7–5, 6–2 in the quarterfinals.

Top seed Iga SwiTech made it to the last eight. The team defeated Shen Quinn of China (6–7, 6–0, 6–2). In the quarterfinals, the Polish opponent will be Jessica Pegula of the United States.

Danil Medvedev, second in the men’s, is also out. The Russian was knocked down by Marin Cilic of Croatia. Fourth-seeded Stephanos Tsitsipas was also eliminated in the fourth round. Medvedev lost to Silich in straight sets (2–6, 3–6, 2–6). Former US Open champion Silich completed the victory in one hour and 47 minutes.
