Italian Enea Bastianini (Ducati) won the French MotoGP Grand Prix at Le Mans. The rookie thus signed his third success of the season following those won in Qatar and the United States.
Bastianini, who is competing in his first year in the premier class with the Ducati-Gresini satellite team following becoming Moto2 world champion last year, is the only rider to have won more than one race there in 2022. The 24-year-old Rimini was 2.718 seconds ahead of Australian Jack Miller’s official Ducati.
Quartararo at the foot of the podium
The Spaniard Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) finished third and thus deprived Fabio Quaratararo (Yamaha) of a place on the podium in front of his public. He missed a tenth of a second for the reigning world champion, who was penalized by a bad start.
In the championship, Quartararo remains the leader with 102 points. He has four more than Aleix Espargaro, while Bastianini is eight lengths. Author of the pole position, the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) led for a long time before being overtaken by his compatriot, then falling.
The Spaniard Augusto Fernandez for his part won in Moto2 ahead of his compatriot Aron Canet. Another Spaniard, Jaume Masia, won in Moto3.
