The Moroccan rapper French Montana seals a collaboration with the brand Skeleton Concepts, a workshop specializing in the personalization of watches, by launching the “French Montana Concept”, a Rolex Daytona customized in the colors of Morocco.
French Montana, whose real name is Karim Kharbouch, is not lacking in creativity when it comes to celebrating his Moroccan roots. The Moroccan rap star in the United States has just unveiled his new toy, a Rolex Daytona 116520 with a unique design, designed by the Skeleton Concepts workshop, according to his wishes.
The unique design of this timepiece designed for the Casablanca native singer thus includes a translucent emerald green bezel, circled sub-dials in anthracite gray and red as well as red engravings and hands… A palette of colors that has for vocation to celebrate the two-tone flag of Morocco.
But that’s not all, the customized Rolex also honors the cultural heritage of the singer with Arabic numerals inscribed on the 12 o’clock sub-dial, replacing the original Roman numerals.
A little gem produced in only sixty pieces, available in two colors, one with a satin-finish Oyster steel bracelet and the other with a black nylon strap and forged carbon case.
French Montana of course himself presented his new watch on Instagram, calling it a “tribute to (his) origins” and “the perfect melody on (his) wrist”.
He spoke a little more on the site of the Skeleton Concepts workshop, explaining that more than just watches for him, these personalized Rolexes are a legacy that he intends to pass on to his son, Kruz Kharbouch.
“This exceptional timepiece tells of my roots and my Moroccan origins. I’m proud of where I come from and I wanted my timepiece to express that. Skeleton Concept’s work is impeccable. The French Montana concept is original, colorful and precise. To own such a watch is to have a piece of eternity on your wrist. A meaningful jewel to offer one day to my son,” said French Montana.
For its part, Skeleton Concepts explains that “for French Montana, the personalization of his Rolex® Cosmograph Daytona 116520, is linked to a part of his childhood. He specifically asked us to express his love and respect for his Moroccan origins, the country where he was born and the Arab-African culture that influenced his music”.
