Industrial production in France rebounded by 0.8% in April, thanks to the reduction in strikes in refineries and an increase in activity in transport equipment excluding automobiles, INSEE reported on Friday.
France’s industrial production rose in April, data released by INSEE on Friday show. Production in French industry as a whole increased by 0.8% following a drop of 1.1% in March. Economists polled by on average expected industrial production to fall by 0.3%.
In detail, production rebounded sharply in coking-refining (+23.6% following -45.2% in March), the strikes having decreased in intensity compared to the previous month. It also increased in extractive industries, energy, water (+1.8%), transport equipment (+2.0%) and capital goods (+1.4%), but fell back in automobile (-1.8%) and the agro-food industries (-0.3%).
