The French Public Health Authority announced that 21 people had contracted salmonella infection due to eating Kinder chocolate, which the Italian group Ferrero announced voluntarily withdrew some of its products made in Belgium on suspicion of the presence of salmonella.
And the French newspaper Medi Libre published that the authority asked the people who bought the chocolate to return it to the store and not eat it, in preparation for withdrawing it because of its danger to humans.
According to the Pasteur Institute, chocolate can cause food poisoning, which leads to digestive disorders, abdominal pain, vomiting or diarrhea, and you may also have a fever.
Also, these bacteria pose greater risks in children, pregnant women, the elderly or those with immunodeficiency, and the incubation period ranges between 6 and 72 hours following eating contaminated products, and if a person has symptoms, it is recommended to go to the doctor and report eating these foods.
The risk of salmonella transmission can be reduced thanks to good hygiene practices, whether in group feeding or in the family environment, or by contact with animals, according to the French Public Health report.
And international media indicated that it was decided to voluntarily withdraw the following products, which constitute the equivalent of hundreds of tons of chocolate, and the expiration date is between the end of June and the end of October 2022.
