After an increase observed between October 27 and November 3, the price of gasoline also fell once more. A liter of unleaded 95-E10 saw its price decrease by 2.2 cents, reaching 1.8171 euros. This decrease comes following a period of fluctuation, providing slight relief to consumers.
Influence of the price of a barrel of Brent
The drop in fuel prices seems to be directly influenced by that of the price of a barrel of Brent, which saw a drop of 4.5 dollars last week. The barrel was trading at 84.3 dollars. However, oil prices increased slightly on Monday, driven by geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East and Ukraine.
Towards an expansion of the fuel premium
This situation revives the debate on the expansion of the fuel premium. As part of the finance bill for 2024, the government retained among the amendments, following the activation of 49.3 on November 7, the extension of the fuel check of 100 euros to more workers in France. This check, representing aid of around 20 cents per liter for six months for average use, will require an online request at impots.gouv.fr to benefit from it.
The fall in fuel prices and the planned expansion of the fuel bonus represent important developments for French consumers.
