French Foreign Ministry condemns Ben Gvir’s statements and provocation regarding Al-Aqsa Mosque

The statement said: “France condemns the visit made today by Israeli National Security Minister Ben-Gvir to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which constitutes a violation of the historical status quo of the holy sites in Jerusalem.”

She added: “This new provocation is unacceptable. France calls on the Israeli government to take all necessary measures to respect the historical status quo in the holy sites in Jerusalem.”

The ministry noted that France considers it necessary to implement the two-state solution to the conflict, which includes “the establishment of a sovereign, viable and integrated Palestinian state, as well as the voluntary commitment of Israeli and Palestinian political leaders to peace.”

The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by the extremist Israeli Minister of National Security yesterday, Tuesday, and his attempt to change the status quo.

US State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel said on Tuesday that the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem by hundreds of extremist Israelis was “unacceptable.”

The State Department’s comments came after Israeli settlers, accompanied by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, his Otzma Yehudit party colleague Minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf, and Likud MK Amit Halevy, stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque to mark Tisha B’Av, an annual Jewish fast day that marks several catastrophes in Jewish history.
