French Expat: Charlotte (Los Angeles), expecting a child away from families

If spring is slowly showing up in the entire northern hemisphere, it is on a freezing January morning that we find Anne-Fleur in this new episode of French Expat le Podcast.

On her way to a small café in the western suburbs of Boston, she goes to find Charlotte, a Frenchwoman who moved to Los Angeles 3 years ago. It was following a really rocky start that she finally settled into her Californian life with her recently-expanded family.

Expecting a child, giving birth to it in a country closed to the world for 20 months, building relationships with her grandparents via Facetime, WhatsApp or Messenger, that’s what Charlotte and other families around the world have experienced since. the start of the pandemic. And that’s the story she tells us today.

We invite you to listen to this episode if you want to know more regarding childbirth in the United States, the decision to take a doula or not and the concerns of American health insurance, among others. If Charlotte was able to show resilience and strength in this ordeal, her journey is very inspiring for many couples who doubt.
