As announced by the Minister of the Economy on Tuesday January 22, electricity bills will see increases of around 8.6% to 9.8% from February 1. A decision which will have repercussions on the wallets of households, particularly the most modest.
Faced with these increases, several voices support the revaluation of the “energy check”, which constitutes considerable assistance for many French households. Monday, the general secretary of the CFDT, Marylise Léon, was on Franceinfo. She thus took advantage of her speech to indicate that “ targeted aid » would be necessary to cope with the increase in electricity prices. This aid might take the form of a “ revaluation » of the energy check or a “ targeting » homes in need, argues Marylise Léon.
For the general secretary of the CFDT, the increase in electricity prices in France is “not not surprising, since we know that there was a tariff shield which allowed many fellow citizens to be protected “. However, Marylise Léon defends the idea of “ targeted aid » intended for “ all households that cannot absorb this increase “. In the form of revaluation of the energy check or targeting, this aid ensures that “ the shield can continue to be active for those who need it “. According to the general secretary of the CFDT, purchasing power is “ a huge cause for concern » among French workers.
Several associations are calling for the revaluation of the energy check
After yesterday’s announcement by Bruno Le Maire, the president of the CLVC association also regretted the absence of ” revaluation of the energy check », which might have relieved many French households. “ All this is unbearable for many French people who do not have the financial capacity to bear these additional costs. “, he estimated.
A few weeks earlier, it was the Foundation Pierre Abbot who had called for an increase in the energy check. Indeed, the association considers the amount of this aid insufficient to meet the needs of households, particularly with the end of the price shield on gas and the total disappearance of the price shield on electricity by 2027. When we lower the sail on this shield, if we do not help the most vulnerable households, well we are not close to getting out of this difficulty of energy poverty », declared Christophe Robert, general delegate of the foundation.
« An expansion of the energy check to reach households which are not currently beneficiaries, but who suffer from these difficulties in being able to heat themselves adequately, and a tripling of the amount of the energy check “, he also asked.
