French Constitutional Commission decides that pension reform bill ‘extension of retirement age to 64’ is constitutional|The Dong-A Ilbo

Amid continuing protests once morest the pension reform bill promoted by President Emmanuel Macron in France, the Constitutional Council judged the provision of extending the retirement age to 64, a key element of the reform bill, as constitutional.

According to the AFP news agency and the BBC on the 14th (local time), the French Constitutional Council approved a clause that would extend the retirement age for workers from 62 to 64.

However, it interpreted the six provisions contained in the bill as “there is a problem.”

The Constitutional Council also judged that the leftist opposition party’s proposal to put the pension reform bill to a national referendum was not appropriate.
