A CV and distinctions that do not need to be visible through a telescope… The Montrealer, born July 13, 1932 in the largest city in Quebec, was a doctor Honorary in a slew of universities (Ottawa, Quebec, Bern, Brussels, Le Havre…). Grand officer of the Legion of Honor and the National Order of Quebec, the nuclear astrophysicist was brimming with titles.
First officiating in North America (professor at the University of Montreal or scientific advisor to NASA), he flew to the Old Continent in the mid-1960s. It will be Brussels (ULB) then Paris (at the CNRS, where he will be research director, in particular). In 71, he published, with two of his students, a scientific article which would prove fundamental in stellar nucleosynthesis.
