Public Health France recently published a survey* on French people’s adherence to preventive measures once morest winter viruses. And regarding barrier gestures, the account is not there.
According to the results of the survey, if 60% of respondents are ready to continue to respect barrier gestures in the event of the return of Covid-19they are only 25% in the event of a flu epidemic and 22% once morest other winter illnesses.
Only 15% of respondents say they systematically wear a mask in the presence of vulnerable people. They are 14% on public transport. “Only one in two people (54% of respondents) indicated that having symptoms of illness such as fever or cough would encourage them to wear a mask this winter,” specifies Public Health France.
The test, more systematic
Other important information, 31% of people who have had symptoms that might be associated with Covid-19 since January 2023 have not taken tests. 30% of them explain that they are not worried. For 29%, the result would not have changed anything because they are used to isolating themselves in the event of symptoms. Finally, 18% say that carrying out a test is too restrictive.
Public Health France considers the adoption of barrier gestures insufficient, “even in the case of risky situations”. And to add: “this makes it necessary to recall the importance of adopting barrier gestures to protect oneself from all winter diseases, in particular wearing a mask in the event of symptoms (cold, fever, sore throat or cough), in busy places and in the presence of vulnerable people.”
Flu Vaccine Adherence Increases
Using a single-use tissue, sneezing into your elbow, ventilating your home regularly, washing your hands frequently and wearing a mask in the event of symptoms, in busy places or in the presence of vulnerable people remain the barrier gestures recommended by the health authorities. .
On the vaccination side, 74% of people eligible for a new dose of vaccine once morest Covid-19 intend to receive it, 69% concerning the flu. They were only 61% in 2022. Finally, only 13% of parents surveyed intend to have their child, aged 2 to 17, vaccinated once morest the flu.
