Lesnar decided to leave WWE in 2004, to play in the NFL, before WrestleMania 20.

Angle revealed his advice to his colleague Lesnar to wait until following the WrestleMania offer, but stressed that his colleague did not listen to the advice and told Vince McMahon of his plans.

Engel said, in statements carried by the website SportSkeeda,: “Brock Lesnar had a private conversation with me a month before WrestleMania, and he told me that he wanted to try playing in the NFL, and that he didn’t like the travel schedule that allotted to him annually in WWE.”

And he continued, “He told me that he would go through the experience with the Minnesota Vikings (American football team), and that he had already communicated with the administration.”

Engel added, “He asked me, ‘What should I do? Should I tell Vince McMahon, or should I wait? ’” He continued, “I told him to wait until following WrestleMania, and then tell Vince McMahon that he is not happy and wants to leave the company.”

Angle indicated that Lesnar did not listen to his advice and quickly told Vince McMahon of his plans to leave the association to experience American football.
