An open and sincere reflection on what remains today, after thirty years of corporatization of public services, of the spirit and practices that gave rise to the Italian psychiatric reform in the 1970s. But also an in-depth analysis of what remains and what has instead been lost, even in the most virtuous regions, including Friuli Venezia Giulia, of the legacy of Franco Basagliaof that vision aimed at promoting community mental health and a culture of welcoming people. We’ll talk about it on Saturday October 12 starting at 9 during the meeting “The legacy of Franco Basaglia and the future of mental health”, scheduled for Udine in Sala Gusmani at Palazzo Antonini, in via Gemona 5.
Organized by Icles – Institute for the clinic of social bonds, Cooperativa sociale Itaca and Consorzio Cosm, in collaboration with Flai – Lacanian Forum in Italy and the magazine L’Ippogrifo, the meeting with free admission but by reservation will begin with the introduction to day of the psychologist Francesco Stoppa.
“Despite the good intentions of the post Covid, – states Francesco Stoppa – users and families have found themselves having to deal with a contraction of resources and funding, while operators pay the daily price of a bureaucratisation and standardization of practices which puts their professionalism and motivation to the test. The day will try to examine critical issues and strengths – he continues -, opening a multi-voiced debate on three cornerstones of mental health work. First of all, the issue of the management of services and the orientation of practices, an issue closely linked to the training of operators and dialogue with the families of service users”. What, essentially, should a prudent leadership, sensitive to changes in society and current expressions of discomfort, aim for today? Mario Colucci, psychiatrist from the DSM of Trieste, Maria Inglese, psychiatrist from the DSM of Parma, and Domenico Ferrara, psychiatrist from the DSM of Udine.
The focus on public services and social cooperation
“The second focus will take stock of the current tenor of the partnership between public services and social cooperation: it still makes sense to talk about partnership – underlines Stoppa -, or is the current logic that of a definitive, simple and mechanical delegation of functions by the so-called contracting services towards the Third Sector?”. The round table “Community work and the integration between public services and social cooperation” will see the interventions of Michela Vogrig, president of Legacoop Fvg and Consorzio Cosm, Marco Bertoli, director of the DSM of Udine – AsuFC, Chiara Dazzan, councilor of the Municipality of Udine, and Manuela Landini, psychologist of the Social Cooperative Insieme si posto. Journalist Anna Piuzzi moderates.
Finally, it is more important than ever to discuss on a cultural and at the same time operational level, to verify what it could mean today, beyond ritual celebrations, to remain faithful to the instituting, or rather innovative, spirit of Basaglia’s thought and of Law 180/1978″ . “With the awareness – concludes Francesco Stoppa – that modern segregation no longer follows, as in the past, the logic of imprisonment and social exclusion, but aims at a general deresponsibility of citizens, reduced to consumers, and at the fragmentation of the social bond”. “The Basaglia legacy in times of corporatization” is the title of the third and final axis of the day, at the round table moderated by Roberto Palladino, journalist of Sky Tg 24, with speakers from Marica Setaro, researcher, Mario Novello, psychiatrist and former director of the DSM of Udine, Gian Luigi Bettoli, historian and former president of Legacoopsociali Fvg, Moreno Blascovich, trainer.
At the end, conclusions and relaunches with Jessica Marino, psychiatrist from the DSM of Udine, and Annalisa Bucciol, psychologist from the Serd of Mestre. Info and registration: Domenico Ferrara [email protected]
