– Yoga is a specific, but also very healthy sport. The exercises just seem undemanding. Whoever tries it will find out that yoga is demanding and incredibly increases the efficiency of the whole body. Exercises allow for deep regeneration, whether following other, strenuous workouts or following stressful work behind a desk. They also provide much-needed relaxation and a moment of breath, says Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw.

Yoga for beginners

Vinyasa yoga is derived from hatha yoga, which consists of mild to moderate asanas, ideal even for beginners. A slower pace than most styles of yoga, hatha yoga can be practiced by people of all ages and fitness levels.

The name hatha yoga comes from the Sanskrit “ha” meaning “sun” and “tha” meaning “moon”. The basic elements of hatha yoga are asanas and focusing on the breath. Vinyasa yoga consists in moving from one point to another, while using the breath as a tool.

Classes organized by Active Warsaw (together with Palestra Płynia) are intended for people who just want to get acquainted with yoga.

– It doesn’t matter if you’re a runner, a swimmer, or if your muscles are tense following working behind a desk. Our yoga will not be too complicated, it will be universal. With us you will learn to exercise and you will be able to practice on your own at home, following work and following a hard workout – argues Bartłomiej Stępień from Active Warsaw.

Trainings start on Wednesday, March 1 and will take place every Wednesday at 19.00 at the Rozbrat Center at ul. Rozbrat 26. Classes are free, you must arrive 15 minutes earlier to register. The resort provides yoga mats and pads, but you are welcome to bring your own equipment. The classes will be led by Asia Głuchowska, co-author of the book “Every Breath Counts”.

Registration details will appear on the Active Warsaw website (opens in a new tab).
