“Free Shingles Vaccination for Vulnerable Populations on the Côte-Nord: Book Your Appointment Today”

2023-04-28 19:03:39

The CISSS de la Côte-Nord announces the implementation of free vaccination once morest shingles on its territory for the most vulnerable clienteles.

The vaccine is available free of charge to people aged 80 and over and to immunocompromised people aged 18 and over.

Appointments can be made on Clic Santé. The vaccine consists of two doses and is effective for 10 years.

This measure stems from an improvement to the Quebec Immunization Program announced a few weeks ago by the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

The objective is to reduce the number of cases of shingles and the complications associated with it, while each year 600 hospitalizations and 10 deaths are linked to this disease.

The CISSS specifies that the vaccine can also be recommended to people aged 50 to 79 in good health, although it is not free for them.
