Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked all parties to be patient and wait for certainty regarding the budget for free nutritious meals which was said to have decreased from IDR 15 thousand to IDR 7,500.

“Who said (the budget was cut?), wait for certainty first. Don’t report things that are not certain,” Gibran told reporters following the launch of the Peparnas XVII mascot with Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo at Pendapi Gede Solo, Thursday (18/7).

Previously, a member of the Expert Council of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka National Campaign Team (TKN), Budiman Sudjatmiko, asked the public not to look at the price per portion in the free nutritious meal program, but to consider the nutrition.

Budiman made the statement in response to news reports regarding the budget for free nutritious meals which was said to have dropped from IDR 15,000 to IDR 7,500 per portion.

At the same time, the issue of cutting the budget for the free nutritious meal program also emerged through an explanation from Verdhana Sekuritas economist Heriyanto Irawan, who admitted to having met with the Prabowo-Gibran Synchronization Task Force Team, which is considering reducing the daily food costs.

However, Vice President-elect Gibran Raka emphasized to reporters that the figure of IDR 15 thousand per child for the free nutritious meal budget as originally planned was ideal and had been tested in a number of regions.

President Jokowi’s eldest son, when bombarded with questions regarding reducing the budget for free nutritious meals, tried to divert attention by answering that in Solo on Monday (22/7) there would be a trial of free nutritious meals.

“On Monday, there will be a free nutritious menu in Solo. I’ll invite you later,” said Gibran while continuing to walk slowly.

Once once more he tried to ask journalists to be patient regarding the news regarding the free nutritious meal budget that had come down. “Once once more, don’t report things that are not certain. So wait a minute, there is no certainty yet,” he concluded.
