Free launches a major update of the Freebox Revolution with many changes

Finally a new update for the Freebox Revolution Player.

Free has just rolled out a major update for the Freebox Revolution Player. It is stamped 1.3.29. The evolutions for this Player are rather Free seems to have grouped everything in this new firmware which many improvements and corrections, that the Freebox developers have just detailed:

Improvements

  • Added a settings menu ” Energy saving “ to highlight certain parameters to reduce the electricity consumption of the Freebox Player, for example by proposing to reduce the period of inactivity before switching off. Some improvements have also been made to reduce power consumption transparently for the user, in particular by turning off DTT when not in use.
  • Faster startup following shutting down the Freebox Player (5 to 10 seconds less to get to the home screen).
  • Added shortcuts on the homepage in the “Music” category for the Playzer and Vialma services.
  • Addition of a screen saver, currently disabled by default and enabled in the display settings.

Corrections

  • The subtitles might not be displayed correctly on certain TNT channels, for example on The Parliamentary Channel during the debates.
  • Some QR Codes may not be displayed correctly when the Freebox Player resolution is set to 1080p.
  • The Deezer app home page was no longer displaying correctly.
  • Zapping on a TV channel might fail systematically with an error “Maximum number of simultaneously received streams reached”.
  • The content of CDROMs/DVDs/Blu-rays is now visible in the file explorer, you had to start reading the disc for this to be the case previously.
  • The Freebox Player might lose its IPv6 configuration until the next restart.
  • It is now possible to change the volume of the Freebox Player from a UPnP Renderer controller, for example with the BubbleUPnP mobile application.

SDK Freebox

  • For application developers: Qt update to version 5.15 (identical to the version included in the Freebox Delta).

To benefit from this new update and these new features, simply restart your Freebox Player electrically.
