Dengue fever: Launch of the Lab device without ordo in Kourou

Dengue fever is back in Guyana and especially in the Kourou sector. (Since the beginning of 2023, 31 cases of dengue fever have been biologically confirmed – including 17 indigenous people – have been identified among residents of several municipalities in the Littoral and Maroni regions. Currently, an epidemic focus in the municipality of Kourou remains active and virus circulation appears to be expanding in the eastern part of the city over the past two weeks.)

The importance of screening makes it possible to detect sources of contamination and to adapt prevention accordingly.

On this occasion, the ARS Guyana, the CGSS and the DRSM in connection with the health professionals of Kourou and the city of Kourou are launching the “Au Labo sans ordo” system, allowing people with symptoms suggestive of dengue fever, in particular to fever, or having confirmed cases in their entourage, to be tested free of charge and without a prescription in the two laboratories in the city of Kourou (Eurofins and Biosoleil).

The launch of this device will take place this Monday, June 5 in the Kourou laboratories (Biosoleil: 6 avenue Victor Hugo in Kourou and Eurofins: 6 Avenue Leopold Heder in Kourou). A team from the ARS public health department will accompany this launch.
