Some operators, on an exceptional or permanent basis, offer their French customers the opportunity to make calls to Israel at no additional cost.
After the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas in Israel, French people with relatives in the country may need to contact them by telephone. At the beginning of September, the four French operators offered communications to Morocco following the deadly earthquake which hit the country. A month later, however, not everyone repeats the operation.
SFR for a week, Free permanently
A few hours following the start of the attacks, Altice France (parent company of SFR and BFMTV) announced exceptional measures, with free calls to Israel for a week. A measure also valid for customers of its low-price RED offer.
For its part, Free has been integrating communications to Israel into its offers for almost a decade. Customers of the operator (Freebox and mobile) can therefore take advantage of their package to communicate from France to Israeli landlines.
Contacted by Tech&Co, the operator Orange indicates that to date, no specific measures are planned concerning calls to Israel. For its part, Bouygues Telecom has not yet responded.
If your telephone plan does not allow you to call a correspondent in Israel without additional cost, it is obviously still possible to use Internet calls, with free applications such as iMessage (on iPhone), but also WhatsApp or Messenger.
