Frédéric has been residing on rue de Halinsart in Trooz for 9 years now, but he has been facing problems for the last 6 years due to repeated leaks in the water pipe of his street. He reached out to the media to express his frustration and highlight the issue. According to him, the leaks have become more frequent and caused significant problems for him and his neighbors. They face difficulty in accessing clean water for drinking and washing purposes, and there have been instances where the water supply was disrupted for hours.
Frédéric’s situation has been aggravated by the fact that the road is blocked when workers are trying to patch up the leaks. Since the street is narrow and a dead end, it can become hazardous in case of an emergency, such as the need for an ambulance or a fire truck. He contacted the Compagnie Intercommunale Liégeoise des Eaux (CILE) to ask regarding a complete replacement of the pipeline, but he was informed that it might take between 5 to 10 years. However, CILE has confirmed that they are aware of the issue and are working on a technical solution that will require coordination with other authorities. In the meantime, Frédéric has to rely on rainwater for his needs. The article is tagged as water leak and flooding.
Frédéric has been living on rue de Halinsart in Trooz for 9 years now. For 6 years, the leaks have been linked in the water pipe of his street. Today, he can’t take it anymore and says it clearly: “At Halinsart, we’re fed up”.
Frédéric has decided to contact us via the orange Alert us button to tell us regarding a situation that is becoming unbearable for him and his neighbors. For 6 years now, there have been repeated leaks in the water pipe in his street, in Trooz. “In the beginning, we had it 3 or 4 times a year“, he sighs. “But now it’s even worse. It’s happened 4 times in the last three weeks.“
This situation causes many inconveniences for the 41-year-old man. “For hours, we don’t know how to wash or drink“, he says. “This Saturday, the water was cut for 7 hours. My wife didn’t know how to take a shower when she got back from jogging. Before going out, she therefore had to use rainwater to wash herself.“
“Catastrophic if we need help”
Worse still for Frédéric, the road would be constantly blocked. “Workers come to patch up the leaks as best they can while digging“, he said. “But our street is very narrow and it is almost completely obstructed during these maneuvers. And since we are in a dead end, it might be catastrophic if we needed emergency help like an ambulance or a fire truck. We fear for our safety.“
“Between 5 and 10 years!”
According to him, the galley is not ready to end. He contacted the Compagnie Intercommunale Liégeoise des Eaux (CILE) to find out when he might expect a complete replacement of the pipe. “I was told in the medium term, between 5 and 10 years! But by then, it might be better because the pipe might be only replaced pieces“, ironically Frédéric.
We contacted the CILE. She confirms the situation. “We met with local residents and municipal authorities on this subject“, says Colette Bawin, communication manager. “Technical solutions are being studied and will require coordination with other applicants.“
Frédéric will therefore have to continue to rely on rainwater for the time being.
The situation experienced by Frédéric and his neighbors on rue de Halinsart in Trooz is truly unbearable. Repeated leaks in the water pipe have been causing them many inconveniences for over six years now. Despite his efforts to find a sustainable solution, it seems that Frédéric will have to continue relying on rainwater in the foreseeable future. This story highlights the urgent need for improved water infrastructure in certain areas and the impact it can have on residents’ daily lives. Let’s hope that the technical solutions being studied by the Compagnie Intercommunale Liégeoise des Eaux will bring some relief to Frédéric and his community soon.
