Frédéric Pajak pays tribute to Mix&Remix

Draftsman, writer but also director, Frédéric Pajak is releasing a film entitled “L’ami – portrait de Mix & Remix”. The feature film is released this Wednesday and its director will also be at the Cinéma Les Scala at 7:45 p.m. to accompany its release.

Frédéric Pajak decrypts the ambition of his new work: “I wanted to tell the Man, the destiny of a boy who was born in Saint-Maurice and who succeeded in becoming one of the greatest designers in the world”. The director is full of praise for “his” friend: “He invented dazzling drawing, speed, a sense of humor that he was the only one to have”.

“It is unique. There are not two Mix & Remix, it is irreplaceable”

Frédéric Pajak specifies that Philippe Bécquelin was not only his friend but also that of all the people who took part in the film. About thirty interviews in total, much more than the norm included in a documentary. The Mix & Remix designer passed away more than four years ago. The act of releasing a film today is not insignificant: “You need time to accept your disappearance and tell your destiny”, underlines Frédéric Pajak.

“It’s difficult to make a film regarding a friend,” he adds. “The people I interviewed replaced my voiceover, ultimately it was they who built the film.” The director tells why the late cartoonist was a genius: “He knew how to express what everyone feels and does not dare to say”.

“In a few strokes, he knew how to draw absolutely everything”

The newspaper The world had views on the designer. For Frédéric Pajak, If Mix had left Switzerland, he would have made a new career and he had this ambition to become the draftsman of the Monde. His dream as an artist was still able to be realized, the loop was closed. From the moment he fell ill, Philippe Becquelin devoted himself entirely to his secret garden with no less than 200 free drawings.
