Freddy Rincón, the remembered midfielder of the Colombian National Team, died

The news was confirmed by his family and the clinic where he was hospitalized. The former midfielder of the Colombian National Team, Freddy Rincón, died this Wednesday night as a result of a traffic accident that left him hospitalized since Monday, April 11.

That day, the truck in which he was traveling suffered a violent traffic accident and his health condition worsened.

According to the Cali authorities, the accident would have occurred when the vehicle in which Rincón was traveling ran a red light. A version also held by Jorge Eduardo Muñoz Beltrán, bus driver who was involved in the crash.

The doctor who attended the former soccer player announced his death at 11:33 p.m. on Wednesday. He said that all efforts were made, but the former soccer player showed no improvement.

“There is never a way to express what it means to lose a patient,” he said. Then he honored the extraordinary ability of Freddy Rincón and the joy he brought to Colombians and to the world of soccer.
