Venezuelan catcher Freddy Fermin had a productive day as the Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago White Sox 10-3 on Wednesday in Major League Baseball.
Four hits in five at-bats – including a home run -, three RBIs and one run scored was the line left by the catcher, who lined up as designated hitter and was the most outstanding player on his team.
Fermin reached six homers and 27 RBIs in the current season of the Big Show. As a point to highlight, it was the first time in his career that he has a game with four hits in the Majors.
Salvador Perez also stood out for Kansas City, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Maikel Garcia took six turns, hit two singles and scored a pair of runs in the duel that took place at Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the Patinos Blancos.
Lenyn Sosa was the only Venezuelan who saw action for the losers. He finished 1-for-4 and stepped on the plate once.
The Royals remain in the hunt for a playoff spot and with yesterday’s victory reached 60 wins and 49 losses. They are in third place in the American League Central Division, six games behind the Cleveland Guardians, who are at the top.
