On Monday morning, a motorist (20) in Frauenfeld on Oststrasse was stopped by a traffic police patrol for inspection. Because the vehicle was obviously lowered too much, he had to go to the road traffic department for a more detailed check. This was announced by the Thurgau cantonal police on Tuesday.

At the Road Traffic Office, an expert found that the car was significantly below the minimum permissible height. “Because the coilover suspension was adjusted to the maximum, the suspension springs were no longer sufficiently preloaded, which significantly affects operational safety,” said the cantonal police in the media release. In the event of strong vibrations, the compression spring might have jumped out, “possibly with fatal consequences,” according to the police.

The police officers also found holes drilled in the connecting pipe between the catalytic converter and the front silencer, which served to increase the noise. Because of these defects, the 20-year-old owner of the car had to hand over the vehicle documents. The license plates were also confiscated. The owner will be reported to the public prosecutor’s office.
