2023-11-29 17:25:00

According to the RTBF, during the presentation prior to the sale of a used vehicle no longer meeting the standards in force, the controller responsible for the fraud modified the EURO standard in the computer system to make it compatible with the requirements of the LEZ. The latter, who was denounced by a colleague, was in cahoots with the seller of the vehicle. The fraud would have lasted 2 to 3 years and concerned a “large number of vehicles”.

The technical center employee resigned before he might be dismissed, Minister Van den Brandt’s office was told. However, it will be possible to find the vehicles which benefited from this fraud since we can identify the technical inspector who was responsible for carrying out the checks.

The Forest technical inspection center, managed by a private company which signed a contract with the Brussels Region subjecting it to various rules, filed a complaint. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation, in which the Brussels Mobility regional administration is collaborating, assures the office of the Minister of Mobility.
