The popularization of Pix brought with it a profound change in user behavior. Second data from Febraban – Brazilian Federation of Banks, in 2020, more than 50 billion financial transactions were already taking place via mobile banking. Two years later, that number doubled to 107 billion.
The arrival of an instant payment method in the midst of this transition, consolidated the creation of a new economic scenario and brought new challenges, mainly for the areas of fraud prevention.
To address this issue, the Data Ruddera data intelligence startup from Santa Catarina, specialized in anti-fraud solutions, is launching the e-book “Desvendando as Fraudes Pix”.
The material offers insights into the particularities of the payment method and provides financial institutions with tools to strengthen their defenses in the face of the agility and practicality of the instant alternative.
Aimed at companies authorized by the Central Bank to operate the system, the e-book explores everything from bank digitalization – a scenario that boosted the emergence of Pix, to the inclusion of innovative technologies in the anti-fraud process, such as the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques (AutoML).
In the content, the company details how it has used these technologies within the DeLorean Antifraude PIX, its specialized data analytics solution for this type of transaction. The platform, which previously served only card operations, needed to be improved to identify new coup tactics and respond to Pix’s characteristics.
Functionalities such as risk score, creation of safe zones and detection of orange accounts were integrated into the system. Another important factor that needed to be taken into account was the agility in detecting frauds. The current processing time of the platform is 80 milliseconds.
“One of the main attributes of Pix is how quickly the transaction is completed. But this is not only an advantage for the user, it is also an important resource for the fraudster. So, we had to adapt and develop a response time suited to this reality”, explains Rafaela Helbing, CEO of Data Rudder.
The material had the participation of the founders, Rafaela and Thais Nolasco; Lead Data Scientist, Beatriz Lima; and Tech Lead, Caio Mota. The professionals brought a specialized view on the subject, making the content informative not only for risk teams, but also for the general public, who are users of this means of payment.
“The purpose of this e-book is to propose a broad view of scams, clearly understanding the perspective of users, fraudsters and financial institutions in this new transactional scenario”, concludes Rafaela.
