The digitization expert and former ELGA boss Dr. At the beginning of May, Franz Leisch changed to the position of CDO in the non-profit organization PRAEVENIRE.
Vienna (OTS) – Only a select handful of experts in Austria have the very specific knowledge of medicine and computer science that Franz Leisch can offer. He was responsible for the introduction of the mega-project ELGA as well as e-medication, the electronic vaccination card and the green passport during the corona pandemic.
Great plans
PRAEVENIRE mastermind Prof. Reinhard Riedl is pleased about the prominent addition to the team: “The two major PRAEVENIRE events this year – the
8th health days in Stift Seitenstetten from May 22nd to 26th and the 10th health talks in Alpbach from July 6th to 10th, the latter being an anniversary after all. We have big plans!”
PRAEVENIRE President Dr. Hans Jörg Schelling is convinced that Franz Leisch will be a great asset to the non-profit association: “The preparation for the European Health Data Space, but also an academy for the practical use of digitization in the health care system and the groundbreaking possibilities of AI (artificial intelligence ) and DiGAs (digital health applications) for healthcare are important topics that we will work on in detail. We expect valuable inputs here.”
Digitization with common sense
The father of four, Franz Leisch, does not see digitization as an end in itself: “All digital applications must always focus on the immediate benefit for people. Otherwise it will go wrong!”
Doctors and healthcare workers are at the limit, so Leisch sees great potential in digitization to relieve the healthcare system. PRAEVENIRE has been working with top experts on the hot topics of the future in the healthcare system for eight years

The experiences from the pandemic were formative for his conviction that a digital healthcare system in Austria has broad acceptance among the population. “Politicians are more concerned about the will of the population than reality, the people here are already much more responsible than assumed. There are so many uses that can directly improve our lives. The crucial thing is to bring the applications to life – and I believe that PRAEVENIRE offers a very good platform to transfer these topics from theory to practice. That is my motivation.”
