Welcome back Franz Ferdinand!
“The Human Fear” marks your sixth studio album and your latest offering exhibits a significant evolution in your sound.
What inspired this shift towards a more mature and introspective direction?
**Alex Kapranos:**
Thank you for having us. We’ve always been about pushing ourselves creatively.
Over the years,both individually and as a band,we’ve experienced life’s complexities,its joys,its uncertainties.
This album is a reflection of that journey, a willingness to explore themes of vulnerability, reflection, and the human condition in a way we haven’t before.

The lead single, “Audacious,” beautifully encapsulates this evolution. It starts with a captivating riff, evolving into a captivating ballad.
Can you tell us more about its inspiration and how it sets the tone for the rest of the album?

“audacious” is about navigating the blurry lines between reality and perception, questioning what’s real and what’s illusionary.
It’s a feeling we often encounter in today’s world, bombarded by information and constantly questioning our perspectives.
Musically, it showcases the dualities we explore on the album—energy and introspection, boldness and vulnerability.
