DThe increased number of corona cases in recent weeks is now increasingly noticeable in the clinics. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports a hospitalization incidence of 5.74 for Hesse. This value reflects the corona patients admitted to the hospitals within a week and patients who have tested positive there. On Sunday, the RKI reported a value of 5.37 following regarding four weeks ago. This indicator, which is important for politics, has been rising steadily since mid-January. The same applies to the trend for the seven-day incidence. It stands for the new cases recorded within the past seven days, i.e. positive PCR tests.
Most recently, the Hessian clinics looked following 1069 corona patients on normal wards, including 145 suspected cases. A week ago there were a total of 820, which shows the significant increase. There are almost 200 Covid patients in the intensive care units, regarding a tenth fewer than a week ago. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, almost 68 percent of the intensive care patients were not or only partially vaccinated, 25.8 percent were fully vaccinated. A good 81 percent of Hessians over the age of twelve are considered to have been vaccinated.
Frankfurt before Offenbach
As can be seen from the figures on the RKI homepage, Frankfurt has replaced the city of Offenbach at the top of the incidence table. In the Main metropolis, the number has climbed to 2246 from 2124. In Offenbach, on the other hand, it has increased from 2191 to 2168, while Wiesbaden once more recorded an increase from 2001 to 2055.
It should be borne in mind that the state capital was recently unable to keep up with the reports to the RKI due to the large number of new cases. Frankfurt had previously reported technical problems with the transmission. The local incidence is therefore likely to be higher than reported by the RKI, said the head of the health department. No other major city or district in Hesse has a four-digit incidence. Despite this, the incidence is increasing across the board. It is currently 1478 following previously 1411 and 1025 a week ago.
The whole of Hesse is a hotspot
The Hessian health authorities reported almost 16,300 new cases to the RKI overnight following 12,439 seven days ago. There are six more deaths related to Covid-19.
All major cities and districts in Hesse are considered hotspots. There, in particularly busy places, masks are compulsory and alcohol is banned in public. Hotspot is a commune that has an incidence of 350 for three days in a row. It falls out of the hotspot team if the value is below 350 for five days in a row.
Hesse wants to keep schools open
Minister of Education Alexander Lorz (CDU) wants to continue to enable Hessian students to attend face-to-face classes in their classes. Overall, there is a sharp increase in the number of corona in Hesse, and the schools are of course also participating in this overall social development, he said in Wiesbaden at the beginning of the week. Schools are usually not the places where infections occur, but the places where they are found. He is therefore sticking to the presence in the lessons in the schools.
