Pop singer Frank Zander says goodbye to the big stage. At the Berlin “SchlagerOlymp” he gave his “last big concert” on Saturday, the 81-year-old told the “Bild”. He added: “I sang almost everything. I said almost everything. I did almost everything. I deserve to bring some peace into my life.”
“Large crowds are not for him,” said Zander’s son and spokesman Marcus Zander of the dpa. “He always felt a lot of pressure and still had a lot of stage fright.” His father is no longer able to cope with great exertion, which is also due to his age.
What should his last song be on a big stage? Of course, that is already certain: “Only home” – the anthem of the traditional Berlin club Hertha BSC. “The fans can sing the song together and feel good regarding it,” says Marcus Zander. But his father’s work should not end there: he will continue painting and his social commitment. “For example, the big Christmas party for Berlin’s homeless will of course continue.”
