It’s a winning return for the man who had decided to be forgotten on the Belgian political scene until the day Conner Rousseau, the president of Vooruit, asked him to become a federal minister. At the time, no one thought he would return to the forefront as Minister of Health. He was omnipresent during the Covid crisis. He pissed off a lot of people. But he also clearly convinced a number of citizens.

Frank Vandenbroucke: “People need to be able to work longer, it’s urgent”

Frank Vandenbroucke has done almost everything in politics. With Johan Vande Lanotte, Patrick Janssens and Steve Stevaert, the current Minister of Health has given the Flemish Socialist Party a new tone and dimension. Elected senator in 2010, he is however contested internally. He then decided to take a step back and embark on an academic career, notably at the universities of Antwerp, Louvain and Amsterdam. His party is looking for him in October 2020 to become Minister of Social Affairs. Party president Conner Rousseau sees him as the best person to face the pandemic.

This survey was carried out by the Kantar institute via an online survey from September 10 to October 9 among 436 voters living in Wallonia, 566 voters living in Flanders and 545 voters living in Brussels with the right to vote in the 2024 national elections. Their representativeness was weighted according to the Belgian population according to age, level of education, professional status and province. The maximum margin of error is 4.4% in all three regions.
