Announced at ASVEL in particular for a return to Europe, Frank Ntilikina finally extends the adventure in the NBA. The former Knicks point guard has signed a contract in Charlotte, without however being guaranteed to be part of the Hornets roster when it resumes.

Tony Parker dreamed of associating him with Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, Nando de Colo and Joffrey Lauvergne at ASVEL, to name but a few. And everything suggested that Frank Ntilikina (25 years old, 1.93m), drafted by New York in 2017, was going to leave the NBA and find Europe, which he had left six years ago following two years spent in Strasbourg, where he had also made his classes within the youth teams of the SIG. Maybe the native of Ixelles, Belgium, will one day find the Old Continent (Editor’s note: the two teams from Belgrade were also very interested in him) and maybe even the French championship, and why not the ‘ASVEL. Still, it won’t be right away. Ntilikina will indeed extend the adventure in the NBA. Friday, ESPN, via its insider number 1 Adrian Wojnarowski, announced that the “French Prince”, in full preparation for the World Championships in the Philippines with the France team, had committed to the Charlotte Hornets and would therefore discover a third NBA franchise following the New York Knicks, where he had spent four years, and Dallas, where he had played for the past two years but where he had to settle for 47 games played, for 12.9 minutes of playing time per game in mean.

Ntilikina’s arrival might drive out Maledon

For the moment, still according to ESPN, the French leader is however not certain to be part of the Hornets squad for the resumption of the season. Ntilikina has indeed initialed only a partially guaranteed contract for one season. Which means that he is only guaranteed for the moment to be present for the training camp this summer of his new franchise and that it will be up to him to earn his place to make the cut. If he succeeds, he is still not sure that he will evolve next season alongside Théo Maledon, since the arrival of his compatriot might push the former ASVEL player towards … the exit (Editor’s note: Only fifteen guaranteed contracts are allocated).
