Rockers watch fire

Hannover – Fire alarm in the red light district!

At the notorious Steintor in downtown Hanover, the roof terrace of the “Sansibar” restaurant caught fire on Wednesday night.

The alarm went off shortly following 2 a.m. Police spokesman Marcus Schmieder: “Our colleagues in the patrol car were stopped by witnesses. We received several emergency calls.”

The roof terrace between the trendy club and a shisha bar was used by the guests of both establishments. At the time of the fire, however, both facilities were closed, so only an elderly neighbor was injured. She suffered smoke inhalation and was rescued.

Horror at rocker boss Frank Hanebuth (57) and his followers. The athletic giant underwent surgery on his left hip a few days ago, came out onto the street with a chair and crutches shortly following the sirens echoed through the neighborhood.

The rocker to BILD: “First of all, I would like to say a big compliment to the rescuers. Everyone was there quickly and was able to prevent the worst from happening.”

What is behind this mysterious attack?

The rescue workers sealed off the building and evacuated immediately. After 30 minutes the fire was out.

Police spokesman Schmieder: “Something flammable was thrown onto the roof terrace.” More detailed information on the incendiary device cannot be given at the current status of the investigation.

However, eyewitnesses were able to accurately describe a suspected perpetrator. Schmieder: “The escape route was described to us, we were able to catch him.” The 33-year-old man is currently in custody.

Hanebuth: “Due to the fact that the police are constantly present and the bouncers have their eyes and ears open, such a cowardly attack during opening hours would have been completely impossible.”

Police are investigating premeditated arson. Amount of damage still unknown.
