Franck Bondrille: Candidate for the Legislative Elections in North America

2022-05-02 07:00:00

It’s no mystery – he had already announced it on his Facebook page last Thursday – but now it’s official: Franck Bondrille is a candidate for the legislative elections in the 1st constituency of French people living abroad (USA + Canada) . Originally from Ajaccio (Corsica) and resident of Plantation, near Fort Lauderdale (Miami region in Florida), he is the father of two daughters, he has been living in the United States for 22 years where he works in several fields: tourist reception, musical production, but also the organization of shows: when French singers or comedians (and Belgians, like Stromae) want to come to Miami, in 99% of cases it is Franck who is in charge.

He had already started a candidacy during the 2012 legislative elections. I was not quite ready yet, but this time I will not go back following 8 years of mandates commented Frank. It is true that he was elected Councilor for French people living abroad (for Florida) in 2014, and that he even largely won the next election in 2021. He has been president of the consular council since then. When the ASFE (1) presents a candidate for election, generally it is not to make up the numbers, and the organization developed by Franck in Florida suggests what his campaign will be like on the North American continent: effective. We can already see that he has participated in meetings in other cities, and that there is a lot of work around him, so we confirm: his candidacy is very real. Besides, there is a space in the United States. From an ideological point of view, Franck is more center-right. He was a member of LR until 2017. Admittedly, the LREM candidate will be difficult to dislodge, but the other center and right-wing parties have achieved very poor results in the Presidential election in the USA / Canada (2). This leaves room for an independent candidacy, if the candidate manages to move his popularity from the “Florida” stage to the “North America” stage.

ASFE applications are in any case more regarding technical aspects for French people living abroad, such as the one revealed in the email sent by the candidate: ” Although we have the same rights and obligations as other French people, the fact remains that we are faced with specific situations. In this respect we are not always well understood, nor even supported. “And the candidate to shoot an arrow once morest the outgoing deputy (who we saw very little here during his mandate, compared to the previous deputy (including before the arrival of the Covid):” However, we deserve real representatives on the ground who tirelessly defend our needs in the National Assembly, fight for our interests as French expatriates in North America, while constantly meeting French people in our constituency. The work of a parliamentarian in the Assembly must never be cut off from the realities of those who elected him. »
