Legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, Saturday (4/5), released the first clip of his long-awaited film, Megalopolis, which will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival this month.
Forty-five years following Apocalypse Now led Coppola to win his second Palme d’Or, the director from the United States (US) will be discussed at the Cannes Film Festival, which will be held May 14-25, 13 years following the release of his first film, Twixt.
The 85-year-old director chose to release the teaser on May 4, which would have been the 88th birthday of his wife, Eleanor Coppola, who passed away last month.
“Megalopolis will always be the film I dedicate to my wife, Eleanor,” Coppola said on Instagram. “I really hoped that we might celebrate his birthday together on May 4. However, unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Therefore, I want to share this gift with everyone on his behalf.”
The film Megalopolis, apart from starring Driver, also features Giancarlo Esposito, Dustin Hoffman, Aubrey Plaza, Laurence Fishburne, and others. (AFP/Z-1)
