After Sergio Gomez, who is close to a transfer to Manchester City, Francis Amuzu is preparing to leave Parc Astrid. Amuzu (22) is close to a transfer to Nice, which – according to French sources – would cost 8 million euros, plus bonuses. The Belgian with Ghanaian origins only has a two-year contract left at Anderlecht. His tenure in the match this Thursday evening at Paide was therefore surprising. Charles De Ketelaere, for example, preferred not to play with Club Brugge when his transfer to Milan was almost done.
Nice has been on Amuzu’s trail for some time now. In January The Team announced that he was a priority for the club which finished fifth last season in Ligue 1. Nice were mainly in competition with Olympique Marseille, but there was also interest from Everton, Wolfsburg and Glasgow Rangers.
Now, the negotiations are very advanced. Despite his young age, Amuzu is already one of the veterans in Anderlecht. He played his first match for the A team on December 22, 2017 once morest Eupen (1-0), a match in which he was the only scorer. He often flirted with departures, but the offers were never enough. His speed made clubs drool, but his stats have never been extraordinary (17 goals and 16 assists in four and a half seasons).
A departure from Gomez (for at least €15m plus bonuses) and Amuzu would mean Felice Mazzù would lose his entire left flank. With the money coming into the coffers, the Mauves would obviously relaunch their transfer window. The aim would not only be to find solutions for the left flank, but also for other positions, such as in central defense.
