FRANCESCO Bagnaia closed the first day of the Spanish GP at the Jerez Circuit, Friday (26/4), by being the fastest in the Practice session with a time of 1 minute 36.025 seconds.
This record time also made Pecco, Bagnaia’s nickname, set a circuit lap record which he always won in his last two years as champion.
Pecco said the result was the result of his team’s hard work which did not stop analyzing shortcomings following disappointing results in the previous two series, in Portugal and the United States (US).
“We focused a lot on what didn’t go well in the last race and we did a lot of data analysis. The team has done a great job before this Grand Prix and together we planned today’s schedule as if it were a test, and it worked.” said Pecco, quoted from the official Ducati Corse website, Saturday (27/4).
“We managed to find solutions to many things with three rounds left, the last one on used tires and I’m very happy. We really needed it because I missed this kind of feeling,” he added.
In second place, Maverick Vinales maintained his good performance following being third fastest in free practice session 1 (FP1).

Fourth position in the Practice session was occupied by Pertamina Enduro VR46 racer Marco Bezzecchi and fifth position was occupied by Portuguese MotoGP champion Jorge Martin.
Meanwhile, Alex Marquez, who was the fastest in FP1, was in tenth position in this Practice session.
On the second day, Saturday (27/4), the racers will undertake 2 free practice sessions and qualifying sessions (1, 2, 3), before then racing in the Sprint Race session with 12 laps at 20.00 WIB. (Ant/Z-1)
