Regardless of Argentina’s results, the Blues can take first place in the Fifa Ranking if clear until October.

Four matches, four victories: France have honored their rank since the start of the qualifying campaign for Euro 2024. Already winners of the Netherlands (4-0) and Ireland (0-1) in March, the Blues have indeed chained with two new successes once morest Gibraltar (3-0) and once morest Greece (1-0). A faultless performance that earned Didier Deschamps’ men a 99.7% chance of seeing the Euro according to a statistics site.

But thanks to this four in a row, France also achieved a very good operation in the FIFA Ranking. Argentina certainly also won two more victories, but they were only two friendlies once morest Australia and Indonesia. Meetings necessarily less profitable in points. When the next ranking is published, the Blues will only be 0.19 points behind, with 1843.54 points once morest 1843.73 points for the Albiceleste.

Argentina start qualifying for the World Cup but…

And the best might be yet to come for France. At least, if it continues to chain the victories. At the start of the school year, the vice-world champions will indeed successively face Ireland in Paris then Germany across the Rhine in a friendly in September then the Netherlands in Rotterdam and Scotland, once more in a friendly. In the event of no fault, France can therefore hope to score 19.3 points.

At the same time, Argentina will (already) launch its qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup. With on the program the reception of Ecuador and a trip to Bolivia in September then the reception of Paraguay and a trip to Peru in october. Meetings that will be more profitable than the recent friendlies disputed by the world champions. Moreover, if it wins its first two meetings on the program, Argentina will widen the gap slightly in September. But in October, it is France that will be in the lead in the event of a clear round. Argentina will indeed only score 18.5 points if they win their four matches, which will allow the Blues to recover first place.

Note, however, that Argentina can hope to recover this first place in November. Consequence of a calendar for the least raised, the Albiceleste having to chain the reception of Uruguay and a trip to Brazil. At the same time, France will complete their qualifying campaign in Greece and once morest Gibraltar.
